Update: Meet and Greet With Superintendent Candidate Cancelled
The City of Sammamish announced it will try to reschedule a planned public meeting with Dr. Traci Pierce this evening at Sammamish City Hall. The City Council meeting is still on the schedule.

The city of Sammamish announced that tonight's scheduled meeting with Dr. Traci Pierce has been cancelled due to inclement weather. If there is an opportunity, this meeting will be rescheduled.

So far, today's Sammamish public meetings are on track. The city clerk's office said Sammamish City Council will host Dr. Traci PierceΒ and hold its Special Meeting tonight from 6:30 - 10 p.m. as planned. The council office hour, scheduled for 5:30-6:30 p.m., is also still on.
The Sammamish Youth Board meeting scheduled for tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. has been canceled, due to anticipated heavy snow.

The (LWSD) and the city of Sammamish will host an opportunity for the public to meet and talk with Pierce, the LWSD Board of Directorsβ preferred candidate for the district superintendent position.
The community is invited to the informal open house today from 5:30-6:30 p.m., at 801 228th Ave. S.E. Light refreshments will be served.
The LWSD School Board conducted an internal search for its new superintendent in October and November and announced Dr. Traci Pierce as its preferred candidate at the Dec. 5 board meeting. Dr. Pierce will replace Dr. Chip Kimball, who is leaving to take a school superintendent position in Singapore. The board decided to look for a qualified internal candidate to maintain continuity during what is expected to be a very busy 2012.
Dr. Pierce is currently the deputy superintendent of instructional services for LWSD and has not yet been hired as superintendent. The series of gatherings throughout the district to meet Dr. Pierce will introduce her to the community while asking for public input to the school board.
At the council's special meeting, it will appoint a number of and hold two public hearings. One is a continuation of the public hearing The other is a public hearing on siting of wireless communication facilities.
In March 2011 the City Council adopted amendments to the wireless code including new provisions such as: the reconfiguration of the hierarchies,Β (elevating parks, schools and churches on the siting hierarchy and adding monopoles to the sitingΒ hierarchy, requiring flush mounted vaults in the base station hierarchy and allowing attached baseΒ station equipment in the base station hierarchy), establishing maximum heights for antenna supportΒ structures, accommodating antennas within the cityβs town center zones and requiring color matchedΒ conduits at the time of an upgrade. Subsequently, these housekeeping changes were identified toΒ maintain consistency with the approved 2011 revisions. The public hearing likely will be continued to the council's Feb. 7 meeting.
The council is expected to approve the final plat for a 26-lot subdivision near Samantha Smith Elementary, Gramercy Park.Β The proposed 26-lot final plat of Gramercy Park is located on 236th Avenue NE and NE 15th Place (nearΒ Samantha Smith elementary school). The preliminary plat of Gramercy Park was reviewed and grantedΒ preliminary plat approval by the City of Sammamish Hearing Examiner on October 22, 2007 as amendedΒ on November 12, 2008, and June 15, 2009. The project was appealed by an adjacent property ownerΒ concerned about drainage and wetland impacts to his property. The appeal was reviewed through theΒ Land Use Petition Act (LUPA) appeal process at King County Superior Court. The appeal was ultimatelyΒ denied by the court.
