Special Olympics Torch Run Comes Through Sammamish Friday

Neighbors are invited down to see Friday's torch run led by the Sammamish Police Explorers.

SAMMAMISH, WA β€” The Special Olympics torch will make its way through Sammamish on Friday afternoon, with a journey beginning at City Hall. Sammamish police officer Will Weisberg will lead the a group of Sammamish Police Explorers on a 15-minute run, ending at the South Sammamish Park & Ride.

Everyone is invited to come down and check out the torch run, which is scheduled to begin Friday at 1:30 p.m. Runners will jog along the sidewalk on 228th Avenue Southeast, and spectators are asked to be mindful not to block the route itself.

After Sammamish, the torch has two more trips on the docket Friday: Newcastle and Maple Valley. More information on the annual torch run is posted on the Special Olympics Washington website.
