Thieves Targeting Copper Signage, Fixtures

Several subdivisions have been hit by thieves, including at least one homeowner.

Thieves have been targeting signage at local subdivisions. The Sterling Woods Homeowners Association reported four copper lids for neighborhood lighted entrance signs stolen andΒ  a masonry entry sign serverely damaged sometime between Jan. 1 and Jan. 2.

On Jan. 3, thieves struck the Timberline Ridge neighborhood, stealing theΒ copper top of a large stone stature marking the entrance to the subdivision, on theΒ 2000 block of NE 29thΒ street.Β 

Thieves struck Sterling Woods again Jan. 4. TheΒ Homeowners Association reported that the tops of two fixtures at the entry sign atΒ 1900 205thΒ Pl NEΒ were stolen sometime overnight, one at 22ndΒ court and another nearby. The value of the copper fixtures is about $100 each.

Also on Jan. 4,Β a resident of the 400 block of 194th Pl NEΒ reported that the copper scenery spotlights in his yard, worth a total of about $1,000, had been stolen. The police report says the wire ends were showing, indicating the five lights had been ripped out of the ground, and another was ripped from the ground but still connected to its cable. The owner had been away for the week after Christmas, and found the lights missing when he returned. Police were not able to recover prints from the remaining light.
