Best-Selling Author Confuses Norwegian Flag For Confederate Flag
"Maybe it's a story?" Rebecca Morris wrote to a Seattle newspaper after seeing the flag in her neighborhood.

SEATTLE, WA -- A New York Times best-selling author reportedly confused a Norwegian flag for a Confederate flag. The Seattle Times reported Rebecca Morris, the author of "Overkill," contacted the newspaper after seeing the flag in her neighborhood.
“Suddenly there is a Confederate flag flying in front of a house in my Greenwood neighborhood," Morris wrote to the newspaper. "I would love to know what this ‘means’ … but of course don’t want to knock on their door. Maybe others in the area are flying the flag? Maybe it’s a story? Thank you.”
The newspaper sent a reporter to the neighborhood to only find a Norwegian flag at the home of a proud Norwegian.

“It’s been up there since the start of the Olympics," Darold Norman Stangeland told the Seattle Times.
Stangeland said he was proud of Norway's recent wins at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

“I’m a proud Norwegian-American," Stangeland said.
Apparently, Morris is not the first person to mistake the Norwegian flag for the Confederate flag. Both flags are red, white and blue and have crosses.
A woman was apparently upset after she saw the Norwegian flag at the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in New York in 2012. She thought it was the Confederate flag, Lewisboro Ledger reported.
