Authorities Investigating Suspected Bomb Found Near Chambers Creek Monday

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department's bomb squad rendered the device safe after a someone spotted it and dialed 911.

Authorities are investigating a suspected bomb that someone spotted and reported to police Monday afternoon.

The device, which was spotted on a gravel bar in the 10300 block of Chambers Creek Road West, appeared during low tide, according to UP Police Chief Rusty Wilder. It was wrapped in black tape.

Authorities checked out the device shortly before 2:30 p.m., Monday, and the Pierce County Sheriff's Department's hazardous device squad was called to the scene. It rendered the apparent explosive safe.
