Coronavirus Testing Events Postponed Due To Air Quality
Pierce County says Tuesday's events have been postponed for the safety of staff and patients.
TACOMA, WA — Pierce County has postponed two mobile coronavirus testing events scheduled for Tuesday due to ongoing air quality concerns.
Forecasters had predicted that air quality would improve Monday as wind pushed wildfire smoke east from Puget Sound. However, that didn't materialize, and the National Weather Service has extended their air quality alert through Thursday.
Now the air quality is expected to remain unhealthy for the next few days, so Pierce County has postponed a pair of outdoor testing events they had scheduled Tuesday.

Both events were in Tacoma, one at the Anchor Church on South Orchard Street, the other at Michael's Plaza on 38th.
There will still be plenty of opportunities for residents to get tested, however. The county has announced dozens of free mobile testing events this month, with more likely in the months ahead.
