Frugal Family: IHOP Serves Free Short Stacks in Honor of National Pancake Day, March 1

Take the family out for a round of short stacks at IHOP, and contribute to a good cause on.

Pancakes aren't just for weekend brunch.

In honor of National Pancake Day, the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) on Mildred Street in Tacoma will serve up one free, pipping hot short stack to to every customer on Tuesday, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

IHOP adopted this centuries-old tradition — also known as Shrove Tuesday, Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras — in 2006 as a fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Over the last five years, IHOP's National Pancake Day celebration has raised more that $5.35 million for local charities.
