Memorial Day: What's Closed, What's Open
While most governments and services will be closed, find out which businesses and services will be available throughout University Place.
Monday, May 27, is Memorial Day, and the three-day weekend means some places in University Place will be closed.
Here is a list of things you need to know:
CLOSED
- Government offices, including all federal, state, Pierce County and the City of University Place. There will be a Special Council Meeting on Tuesday, May 28, at 6:30 p.m.
- Schools, including University Place School District and Tacoma Community College.
- U.S. Post Office, UPS, FedEx
- Pierce County Library System
- Costco
- Most banks
OPEN
- Recycling and Garbage Service:Â Normal pick up schedule.
- Pierce Transit:Â Local bus and shuttle services will operate on Sunday schedule. (Offices closed; no phone service.)
- Morgan YMCA: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Most stores and restaurants will be open as normal.
