UP Reps Set Date For Inaugural 'Coffee & Conversations'
Reps. Mari Leavitt and Christine Kilduff will be at Anthem Coffee & Tea in University Place next month to meet and talk with constituents.

UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA - Fresh off the successful passage of House Bill 1210 through both the House and Senate, Rep. Christine Kilduff will join Rep. Mari Leavitt in hosting the inaugural "Coffee & Conversations" with University Place constituents the first week of May.
Offering the community an opportunity to share concerns and discuss current issues, Coffee & Conversations will be a monthly event held in cities throughout the 28th District this summer. The first event will be from 8:45 to 10:30 a.m. May 4 at Anthem Coffee & Tea, located at 3609 Market Place W., suite 101, in University Place.
Supported unanimously, HB 1210 will now allow nonresident children from military families to enroll in Washington's public schools prior to arrival in the state, according to the Washington State Legislature.

"It is my great honor to sponsor this legislation, providing peace of mind for military servicemembers and their family members," Kilduff said in a statement. "Now, military children can acclimate to their new community and school, continuing their education with minimal interruption. I want to thank the Senate for approving this legislation and look forward to the governor signing it into law."
The bill now awaits Gov. Jay Inslee's signature.
