Thanks to UP for the successful food drive!

Rotary Food Drive Benefits F.U.N.

During two weekends this month, the Rotary Club of University Place-Fircrest accepted food donations from customers at Green Firs Safeway. During that time, generous residents of UP donated 1,721 pounds of food for the Families Unlimited Network (FUN) which was an increase of 6% over the previous year. Cash donations totaled over $500.

This local food bank is housed in UP at 2610 Sunset West and serves over 47,200 people annually. The food bank also offers a lunch program for school age kids, and provides several other programs, helping with rent and utility assistance, and summer and weekend backpack meals.

This is the fifth year that Rotary has collaborated with Safeway at Green Firs to gather food for needy members of our community. The Club extends its thanks to Safeway and to the community.
