University Place 2019 Election Candidates Set

On the last day to withdraw from the 2019 election, 10 people remained on the ballot for positions on the city council and school board.

UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA — On Monday, the last day to officially withdraw from the 2019 primary election in August, six people — including two incumbents — remained in the running for positions on the University Place City Council.

Hoping to retain their seats are Mayor Kent. D. Keel (Pos. 2) and Mayor Pro Tem Caroline Belleci (Pos. 7). To do so, however, they'll have to withstand challengers Betsy Tainer and Rebecca Clark, respectively.

Competing to replace outgoing Councilor Chris Nye are Edward A. Wood and Stan Flemming.

Four people have submit their names for seats on the University Place School Board, with two of those candidates running as unopposed incumbents.

Both T'wina Nobles (Director Pos. 3) and Board President Mary Lu Dickinson (Director Pos. 4) face no challengers for this upcoming election.

However, the race to fill the Director Pos. 5 seat left vacate by outgoing board member Annie Fitzsimmons will be between two newcomers: Rick Maloney and Dennis Litwin.
