Washington State Patrol Seeking Witnesses to Events Leading Up to Monday's High Speed Chase, Crash on I-5
Investigators need public help to determine what happened before the police pursuit of a stolen vehicle led to a serious one-car collision on southbound I-5 Monday evening, near the Port of Tacoma.

The Washington State Patrol is investigating the one-vehicle, serious injury collision that occurred on Monday, February 4, 2013 in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5, just south of Port of Tacoma Road.
At approximately 11:40 p.m., Auburn police officers attempted to stop a reportedly stolen Chevrolet Monte Carlo, southbound I-5 just south of the Federal Way scales.
The suspect fled and the officers initiated pursuit. After passing the Port of Tacoma exit, the suspect swerved to the left, crossing all lanes and entered the median where it struck the cable barrier. During the collision sequence, both the driver and passenger were ejected into the southbound lanes and seriously injured. Neither was restrained.
