What's the Future of the Mildred Street Business Corridor?
The area along University Place's eastern edge suffered two hits in less than two weeks with the closure of the The Keg and Galaxy Narrows Theater.
It was almost eerie driving along Midred Street West in University Place today.
On the UP side of where the city converges with Fircrest and Tacoma, two prominent buildings sat empty.
The building that used to house The Keg, which served its final meal Jan. 19, had a sign taped to the inside door: "This Keg location is now closed."

In the distance, a white armored truck was parked in front of the newly emptied which had its final showing Thursday night.

A pair of businesses that helped bring customers to the Mildred Street business corridor, particularly on weekends, are now gone. And the news caught most of us by surprise.
Businesses still line both sides of the street, but surely the loss of two major business will cause some ripple effect.
