Fox Cities Chamber: Appleton League Of Women Voters Announces New Name; Website
Aligning with the national and state Leagues, LWVAFC is reaching out to young people like never before.

This Monday, February 14, the League of Women Voters of Appleton launches its new name, a brand new website, and efforts to reach out to youth like never before.

The League is a non-partisan organization that advocates for informed and active participation in government. Nationwide, it has elevated diversity, equity, and inclusion to the same status as its non-partisan stance. Valentine's Day marks the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the League.
" Our League is now League of Women Voters of Appleton-Fox Cities," says Co-President Marti Hemwall. "Keeping 'Appleton' in the name pays tribute to the founders and long-time supporters of our League. 'Fox Cities' acknowledges the growing diversity of the area, and the changing area where members live, work, and pay taxes. It will also enable us to bring our respected voice for good government to our wider community.

"Our new website contains easily accessible information on how to register to vote and what's on your ballot, opportunities to take action, and. upcoming events and programs. It's a resource we intend for the entire community to utilize." The site can be found online at lwvappletonfoxcities.org
Aligning with the national and state Leagues, LWVAFC is reaching out to young people like never before. Integral to the League's value of diversity, equity, and inclusion, the organization is open to anyone who supports its nonpartisan and inclusive values. "The League is most effective at serving the interests, needs and ideas of diverse people in our communities when these individuals participate in the League," says LInda Bjella, co-president along with Hemwall.
"This direction emphasizes our commitment to educate voters and potential voters, and protect the freedom to vote. Leagues across the country are extending membership to anyone of any age who supports our principles of nonpartisanship and diversity, equity and inclusion. "Our League welcomes fresh perspectives, fresh voices, and fresh energy."
The League of Women Voters of Appleton-Fox Cities is a growing nonprofit covering a regional area of 19 municipalities, 3 counties, 3 state senate districts, 6 school districts, 6 state assembly districts, and 2 congressional districts. In addition, it has members outside this area, including Waupaca.
