Taskforce Develops Climate Change Plan Proposal For The City Of Appleton
The goal for the city is to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner.

In 2019 the Common Council passed Resolution 13-9-R and also established the goal for the City of Appleton to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner. The resolution included the formation of a Task Force on Resiliency, Climate Mitigation and Adaptation with the responsibility to develop a Climate Action Plan Proposal. The committee was given a two-year term that was officially concluded in February of 2022.

The committee included a mix of alderpersons and persons in the community that were selected based on their interest and experiences in with sustainability. In addition, the committee utilized the expertise of others whom served on numerous sub-committees. The City of Appleton hired EHSE Management Services to work with the committee to provide stakeholder support and to perform a green house gas inventory for municipal operations.
