CalStar Welcomes 17 New Jobs for 2nd Shift Expansion

CalStar Products has expanded, adding a second shift and 17 new jobs, bringing the total local workforce to 55, according to a press release from the company.

“Increasing interest in our products combined with the improving construction economy had begun to stretch delivery lead times beyond acceptable limits,” said Michael Telischak, vice president of manufacturing for CalStar, in the statement. “Adding a second shift has allowed us to accommodate that growth as well as further bolster our orders.”

Increased sales across the company's product lines - including springtime outdoor projects that include CalStar pavers - triggered the need for more personnel.

A spokesperson for the company confirmed the jobs were filled by the time the press release was distributed to media.

CalStar uses almost 40 percent recycled materials in their products and claims they cost 10 percent less than more traditional bricks and pavers.

Local representatives have been open about the company contracting with Walmart to supply bricks for a proposed store in Caledonia right next door if the development is approved by the village.
