Elderly Man Cited For Drunk Driving, Crashes Into Pole, Police Say

A 79-year-old Kenosha man was cited for suspicion of drunk driving and failing to keep his truck under control at 8:20 p.m. Friday.

According to a report by the Caledonia Police Department, the man crashed the truck he was driving into a traffic pole at Three Mile Road and Douglas Avenue. After the crash, the man left the scene and was stopped on Three Mile Road just east of North Green Bay Road. The car had frontend damage and was leaking fluids.

The man seemed “disoriented and confused” and told police the truck just stopped and would not start. The officer told the man he had just been in a car crash, but the man denied being in the crash, couldn’t tell the officer where he was and refused medical treatment.

He told police that he had been drinking, but he wasn’t drunk and kept telling the officer he wasn’t in a car crash. The man failed a field sobriety test and he was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving. The officer took the man to get a legal blood draw.

While being booked, the man kept asking the officer what he had done wrong after his citations had been explained to him.
