Family Finds Grenades; Bomb Squad Safely Detonates Them
That explosion residents near the 4200 block of Highway H may have heard was the Milwaukee County Bomb Squad destroying two hand grenades found in a Caledonia home.
The Milwaukee County Bomb Squad safely destroyed two live hand grenades Tuesday after a resident found them in her late father's Caledonia home.
CAPD Lt. Gary Larsen confirmed that a village resident was going through her deceased father's belongings when she found two hand grenades in an upstairs bedroom dresser. The man was a World War II Navy veteran.
"Officers called in the bomb squad, and they safely disposed of the grenades by burying them in a field and exploding them with their own explosives," he said.
