OWI Follows Car-Tree Collision

It's a Milwaukee man's fifth OWI charge after he crashed his car into a tree on Douglas Avenue, Caledonia police say.

A man is facing his fifth drunk driving charge after he crashed the Nissan Sentra he was driving into a tree, said Sgt. Gary Larsen, of the Caledonia Police Department.

The 40-year-old Milwaukee man was taking a passenger in his car to work when he went into a ditch in the 7000 block of Douglas Avenue at 2:47 p.m. on Wednesday. The driver and passenger were uninjured.

However, the arresting officer smelled alcohol on the man, they conducted a field sobriety test on him and arrested him.

Larsen said the department has submitted charges to the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.

“We also found out that he had a warrant out for him in Milwaukee for operating a vehicle while his license was revoked,” Larsen said. “So not only should he not have been driving drunk, he shouldn’t have been driving at all.”
