Racine School Locked Down After Student Reported Seeing Student With A Gun
McKinley Middle School was locked down for about 20 minutes just before school let out. A student told authorities she saw a classmate with a gun outside, but police found nothing.

McKinley Middle School was on lockdown after a student reported that she thought she saw another student with a gun outside the school.
They lockdown lasted a total of 20 minutes from about 3:30 to 3:50 p.m.
Sgt. Rick Toeller, of the Racine Police Department, said that shortly before 3:30 p.m. a student was looking out the window of a classroom and thought she saw another student outside the school with weapon, but she couldn’t be sure.

“She reported it to school officials and the school was locked down as a precaution,” Toeller said.
School personnel called the police and searched the area, but no one was found, Toeller said.

“It’s fortunate that this wasn’t a serious incident and it was a good exercise because the practices worked as they should,” he said. “No one could get in or out of the building for student safety.”
At about 4 p.m., police were leaving the school, and students were going home.
