Man Dies After Submerging Vehicle on Frontage Road
Man apparently had a heart attack after trudging through 200 yards of muddy water.

YORKVILLE—A 76-year-old man died Monday morning after his car became stuck in floodwaters on the West Frontage Road near Highway C.
Jack Leroy Furrer, of Dousman, was found in the roadway early Monday morning. Racine County Medical Examiner Tom Terry pronounced him dead at 7:05 a.m. The Journal Times reported a man driving along the road discovered the body.Â
Terry said Furrer was driving in a construction zone that was closed to traffic. Heavy rains flooded the area, and Furrer's car became studk in about 4 feet of water. Water levels were at least partway up the steering wheel in the car, Terry said.

"He got out, came about 200 yards south of that through med and water," Terry said. "As he came down through deeper water and wet gravel, he just collapsed."
Between 53-degree water, 50-degree air and 18-mph winds, Terry said he believes Furrer had a heart attack, with hypothermia as a contributing factor. There were no signs of trauma or injury.Â
