Stop On Inn Turning Into Cham North

Owners of the Cham Tap in Mount Pleasant have purchased the Stop On Inn in Caledonia.

The owners of the Cham Tap in Mount Pleasant are turning a well-known Caledonia watering hole into a northside Cham.

Cari and Ron Fenkl are taking over the Stop On Inn, 4653 Douglas Ave., and renaming it the Cham North, but to operate as a tavern with the ability to sell carry-out beer, they needed a Class B combination license.

Caledonia trustees approved the combination Class B liquor license for the Fenkl's Monday night.

At the Legislative and License Committee meeting on May 13, there was some discussion over dumpster placement and who would be responsible for plowing. Cari Fenkl indicated she would move the dumpsters from the north side of the building, which is actually village property, and take care of plowing.

Committee members recommended approval from the full village board for a liquor license.

The Stop On Inn was owned by Curt and Char Foertsch but they sold the property to Cari Fenkl earlier this month.
