Updated: Greendale Child Porn Suspect Hangs Himself

A Greendale man arrested for child pornography in July hanged himself in his jail cell, according to a press release form Kenosha Sherriff's Department

Chad Winkie, 40, of Greendale, was found hanging in his cell around 12:40 a.m. Monday morning in his cell. Life-saving efforts were immediately attempted, but were not successful, said the Sheriff's Department.

The initial investigation conducted by Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputies found nothing out of the ordinary. He was being held at the Kenosha County Detention Center for the U.S. Marshals when he died. The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office will conduct an independent investigation because Winkie was being housed for US Marshals.

Videos depicting alleged child pornography were found in Winkie’s home during the search by along with Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation agents and criminal analysts, according to a press release from Greendale police.

Winkie allegedly took pornographic videos and photographs of a 13-year-old girl and an 11-year-old girl at his home over at least three years, according to the criminal complaint.
