Greendale Superintendent Resigns Over Credit Card Spending
Gary Kiltz has resigned as Superintendent of Greendale Public Schools following an investigation into illicit credit card spending.

GREENDALE, WI – The Greendale School Board has accepted the resignation of Gary Kiltz from his position as superintendent of Greendale Schools.
Kiltz's resignation came at the request of the board following an investigation which revealed a pattern of use of his district issued credit card for personal purchases, the district said in a news release Monday night.
District officials said the district has sought repayment of the funds and Kiltz has agreed to reimburse the district for his personal purchases.

According to district officials, Kiltz' illicit spending was discovered by Greendale School’s internal financial control processes. Based on the findings of the district and independent investigations, the Board of Education made the determination that it was in the best interest of the district to request his resignation.
Patch has reached out to the Greendale School District to find out the amount of funds spent by Kiltz, which group conducted the outside investigation and over what time period the spending took place. We will update this story with new information as it becomes available.

“While the request for resignation is not reflective of Dr. Kiltz’s performance in important areas of district goal setting and strategic planning, student learning and achievement, equity and inclusion initiatives, or the facilities referendum, his actions are a violation of the trust between the office of the superintendent and the public,” said Mr. Joe Crapitto, president of the Greendale Board of Education in a statement released late Monday. “Dr. Kiltz has not upheld his fiduciary responsibilities to the district and community.”
The Board of Education will develop a search process in the coming weeks. During the interim, the district will be led by Kim Amidzich, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, who will work closely with other district administrators and the building principals. That team will work collaboratively during this transition.
Kiltz joined Greendale Schools as Superintendent in July 2016.
