Greenfield Mayor: City Didn't Lure Kohl's from Greendale

The mayor recently emphasized that the city didn't persuade the store to plan its move to Greenfield.

Kohl's Department Store reps announced plans last week to move a longtime Greendale location over to an under way massive mixed-use development in Greenfield, and Mayor Michael Neitzke wants his neighboring officials to know that the city had no part in the decision.

Pending bid approvals, the transition won't take place until the second half of 2018, according to the USA Today Network. Kohl's will then land in nearby Greenfield's now under construction 84South complex. The development is located just south of I-894 and west of South 84th Street.

"(Neitzke) said that although he is pleased that the huge retailer has chosen his city for its new location ... Greenfield didn't lure it away from Greendale," the story said. "In an email to Todd Michaels, Greendale village manager, Neitzke wrote, 'Greenfield was not an active participant in getting them to change locations.'"
