GREENFIELD, WI — Drivers in the Greenfield area are going to have to find a new detour after the next several months after a key bridge closed Monday for a complete re-build.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the 68th Street bridge over I-894 closed Monday, Oct. 28 at 6 a.m. and is expected to be closed through August 2020 for a full re-build.

Transit officials said the overpass was built in the 1966. Although various rehabilitation improvements have taken place over the years, with the last being a concrete deck overlay in 1989, conditions have deteriorated to the point where it needs to be replaced.
