Former Whitnall Gymnast Wins Humanitarian Award

University of Wisconsin-Stout senior gymnast Heather Harmeyer has been selected the first recipient of the 2012 WMG Humanitarian Award, presented recently by WMG Waznik Moseler Group LLC of Menomonie.

WMG began the annual award this school year with the intent to call attention to and recognize the student-athletes who put sports into proper perspective, who encompass teamwork, campus and community into their everyday lives and put others ahead of themselves. The award was recently presented by WMG representatives Brian Waznik and Brian Lavoy at the UW-Stout Athletic Honors Day program.

Harmeyer, a senior from Milwaukee, Wis. (Whitnall HS), is a member of UW-Stout’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), American Hotel and Lodging Association and Women in Lodging. She has served as a volunteer for numerous campus and community activities and organizations including various food drives and campus clean-up events, Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity and the Children’s Miracle Network.
