Greenfield Health Department to Present Fall Prevention Program

The Greenfield Health Department, in partnership with South Pointe Healthcare Center, and Aurora Healthcare is offering a community spring health education series. This educational series is aimed to increase your knowledge on how to prevent falls. The spring series is entitled, “Put A
Spring In Your Step” will be valuable to anyone who is interested in fall prevention.

“Falls are a leading cause of injury for those over the age of 65 years,” said Darren Rausch, Health Officer/Director of the Greenfield Health Department. “In cooperation with community partners, we will share practical solutions to prevent falls.”

“Put a Spring in Your Step” spring education series consists of the following three programs:

  • March 21 - “Fear or Not to Fear” to Fall. A South Pointe physical therapist will focus on balance exercises to prevent falls and on the importance of hydration.
  • April 17 - “Home Sweet Home” Safety First. A South Pointe occupational therapist will focus on home safety, including a demonstration on the use of adaptive equipment for use in the home.
  • May 15 - “It’s a Balancing Act” (Medication and Physical Well-being). An Aurora pharmacist will discuss how medication can affect physical activity and balance.

Each program will be at 10-11:30 a.m. in the Greenfield Public Library, Community Room, 5310 W. Layton Ave.
Registration is required due to limited seating.
