Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety Honors Whitnall Student

Update: Daniel Gengler of the Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety, along with members of the Greenfield Fire Department, came to to present Cortney Tolson with her award in front of her sixth-grade classmates and teachers Wednesday, Jan. 25.

The Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Saftey has selected a Whitnall Middle School student's entry for second place in its statewide fire saftey poster contest.

Award winner Courtney Tolson will receive a $50 Kohl’s gift certificate for her winning safety poster entry. Tolson's entry was submitted by teacher Sramek Weyker back in October.

Winners were selcted according to the following criteria: 50 percent message, 25 percent creativity and 25 percent artistry.

WAFS gave out one grand prize, two first-place prizes, four second-place prizes and six honorable mentions and received more than 700 entries from fourth- through seventh-graders throughout the state.
