Bluemel's Proposes Adding Bar To Garden Center Offerings
Bluemel's Garden and Landscaping proposed adding a bar to its coffee shop in Greenfield, according to Plan Commission docs.

GREENFIELD, WI — Bluemel's Garden and Landscape Center, located at 4930 West Loomis Road in Greenfield, has proposed adding a bar to its offerings.
The spot already operates a coffee shop, Blum Coffee Garden, and with a new application submitted to the Greenfield Plan Commission, John Lewandoski and Mike Bluemel have proposed adding a bar and alcohol services.
The alcohol consumption would be limited to the indoor coffee shop and the outdoor patio, city documents said. Signs saying "No Alcohol Beyond This Point" would be installed in certain areas to make the designated area clear, plan documents said.

Plan Commission documents say the plan would be to have staff at the shop obtain a Wisconsin Bartender License.
The coffee shop currently serves about 125 people a day, and with the alcohol license, that would be expected to go up to about 190 customers per day, plan commission documents say.

The property is currently zoned for "Neighborhood Commercial District," meaning Bluemel's would require a special use permit from the city for "Drinking Places."
The Greenfield Plan Commission is scheduled to further discuss the site plan review and the special use permit applications at its meeting on Tuesday. A public hearing would also be required, which could come as soon as April, according to plan commission documents, and the Greenfield Common Council would have to approve the special use permit.
Bluemel's Garden and Landscape Center was not immediately available for comment.
