Falcons Move Into First Place; Hawks Win Again
Both local high school football teams posted victories Friday: Whitnall a come-from-behind win over South Milwaukee and Greenfield a blowout of St. Francis.
Despite falling behind, 23-8, midway through the second quarter, the Whitnall Falcons varsity football team posted an impressive 37-30 come-from-behind victory over South Milwaukee on Friday and took the lead in the Woodland Conference East.
Quarterback Zach Sutton passed for 308 yards and four touchdowns, hooking up with receiver Patrick Wyrowski six times for a game-high 166 yards and three scores, including an 83-yard TD connection with 2 minutes, 32 seconds left in the third quarter that put Whitnall ahead for good at 29-23.
That same duo combined again for a 46-yard TD about five minutes later as the Falcons extended their lead to 37-23.

South Milwaukee added a touchdown with about 2 minutes remaining but could not get any closer.
With the win, the Falcons improved to 4-1 overall and qualified for the WIAA playoffs. Perhaps more importantly, they improved to 3-0 in Woodland East action and are one game ahead of South Milwaukee, Brown Deer and Greenfield in the league standings with just two league games (three overall) remaining.

Greenfield wins consecutive games
Speaking of Greenfield, the Hustlin' Hawks continued to work on turning their season around with a 35-0 win over St. Francis on Friday.
The Hawks improved to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in division play.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel online box score, Greenfield's Reggie Blakely rushed for four first-half touchdowns.
