Why Go: Kids love Thomas the Train, and Jerry the Engineer will be on hand to . There will be free cookies and juice and adult supervision, as well as discounts on all Thomas the Train merchandise.

Where/When: Greendale Public Library (basement), 5647 Broad St./Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Why pay full price for children’s books, movies and CDs when you can get them gently used? The library is promising an extensive collection of donated materials and everything is new to this sale.

• Whiz Kidz Workshop

Where/When: Greendale High School (Rm. 135)/Saturday, 1-5 p.m.

Why Go: Jr. Scientists will be challenged to solve a series of problems with materials provided to them, become inventors and test their own inventions and ride on a hovercraft through the special Greenfield Parks & Recreation Department program.

Pricing: $40 for Greenfield resident/$50 for non-resident, but call the Parks & Rec department at 414-329-5370 to make sure registration is still available.

• The Little Engine that Could

Where/When: Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, 325 W. Walnut St., Milwaukee/Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. both days

Why Go: More trains! You all know the story about the train of toys that needs to get to the boys and girls on the other side of the mountain. Only the Little Blue Engine, the smallest in the fleet, is willing to give it a shot. Sure to teach your kids lessons in perseverance and self-confidence.

Pricing: $10 children ages 3-12; $12 for adults

Where/When: US Cellular Arena in Milwaukee/Friday, 7 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m., 3 p.m., 7 p.m.; Sunday, 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. 

Why Go: Disney favorites from The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Peter Pan and others join Mickey and Minnie in a show with great action and music for all ages.

Pricing: $15-$62 for adults; $10-$62 for kids.
