Greenfield 'Drano Bomb' Surprises Resident; Police Investigate

GREENFIELD, WI — Authorities in Greenfield are trying to figure out who may have placed a makeshift "Drano bomb" on the doorstep of an unsuspecting resident over the weekend.

According to a message posted on social media this week, the homemade bomb was left at the front door of a Greenfield home on Saturday night. A witness said the device was a four-gallon water jug covered with red tape at the top, and a dark substance at the bottom.

In the message, the witness said the suspects rang the doorbell and ran away. The resident saw the device and called authorities.

According to a JSOnline report, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's bomb squad was called to the scene to deactivate the device. Authorities learned the device was a "Drano bomb" — a container that's filled with drain cleaner and metal bits that is capable of exploding and releasing shrapnel.
