Greenfield Golf Galaxy Building To Get New Life

The owners of BioLife Plasma Services are proposing to buy the former Golf Galaxy property and make building and site improvements.

GREENFIELD, WI — The former Golf Galaxy building at 7801 W. Layton Ave. may be getting new life after a plan has been put forward by a developer to transform the property into a blood plasma collection center.

According to Greenfield Plan Commission documents, the owners of BioLife Plasma Services are proposing to buy the former Golf Galaxy property.

Greenfield officials say the facility will provide 60 donation beds and will house between 50-60 workers with no more than 30 people working in the building at any one time, officials said. It would be open from Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

City officials said the developer is proposing to remove the south half of the existing vacant building, and reducing it from 30,000 square feet to 16,850 square feet. According to city documents, the parking lot would be rearranged to provide maneuvering area
for full-size semi deliveries.

Plans go before the Greenfield Plan Commission on Tuesday night. Although city staff recommend approving the plans, officials say revised plans with several recommended changes and alterations would need to be approved before the final plans could be considered by the city council.
