GREENFIELD, WI — Two Greenfield police officers were put on administrative leave Monday after they shot a suspect who was believed to be involved in a traffic stop shortly prior where another officer was hospitalized, according to police.
It started with an officer pulling over a man around 1:30 a.m. near the Rodeway Inn and Suites on South 27th Street, police said. But during the stop, the driver became resistive and at one point he threatened to shoot officers with a gun, police said. As police tried to arrest the man, an officer was injured and the suspect ran away, according to the news release.
Officers were called in from several nearby departments to continue the search until eventually, the hotel notified police of a possible sighting of the suspect, police said.
