GREENFIELD, WI — Public health officials in Greenfield say they're prepared if new coronavirus cases appear in Greenfield in the near future.

According to Greenfield Health Department officials, they are working closely with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and other regional health departments to monitor the situation, including reviewing emergency response plans that have been created, tested, and revised over the past several years.

"We are prepared if cases arise in our community," Darren Rausch, Health Officer/Director of the Greenfield Health Department said in a news release this week. "We are confident in our ability to implement public health recommendations in cooperation with local medical providers, schools and other community partners."

As with any virus, such as influenza or a cold, you must take steps to avoid catching and spreading the infections. You should:

  • Frequently and thoroughly wash your hands.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes.
  • Stay home when you are sick.

As influenza remains active in Wisconsin, you should get a flu shot if you already haven't gotten one, health officials said this week.
