Greenfield Schools To Close Starting Monday Over Coronavirus

GREENFIELD, WI — Citing the spread of the new coronavius, COVID-19, the Greenfield School District will close its doors to students and staff starting Monday.

According to a letter sent to parents, students in the School District of Greenfield will not have school from Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 27. All of this time will be considered spring break.

District officials said students will not be expected to engage in any distance learning on-line during this time frame. The District, in cooperation with the Greenfield Health Department, will continue to monitor the public health situation over the course of those two weeks and based upon the guidance from the experts, we may need to extend the time off for students.

District officials said they will communicate with all families no later than Wednesday, March 25 to indicate future plans. All school related activities and events, such as athletics, clubs, Kids Connection, and others, are suspended during this time frame as well.

It is very important that students follow the CDC Guidelines during this time off, according to Greenfield School District officials. Students are encouraged to not gather together in public spaces or households. Traveling to other areas, especially to areas where there is
community spread is not recommended.
