Greenfield Targeting Aug. 1 For School Reopening Plan Release

As of July 4, the city of Greenfield has seen 297 confirmed COVID-19 cases, and 12 people have died from virus-related illness.

GREENFIELD, WI — Greenfield School District officials say they hope to have information to parents by Aug. 1 about how school is going to look in Fall.

Like all school districts across the state, Greenfield closed its doors on March 16 at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in Wisconsin.

Since the beginning of June, Greenfield School District officials report working with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and the local Greenfield Health Department to figure out the plan for returning to school in Fall.

"As you are aware, the COVID-19 health emergency has been an ever-changing situation, and we want to be sure that we are using the best and most up to date guidance and data to craft our back to school plan," district officials said in a statement in early June.

As of July 4, the city of Greenfield has seen 297 confirmed COVID-19 cases, and 12 people have died from complications presented by the virus.

Of the 297 confirmed cases in the City of Greenfield as of July 4, health officials say 6 percent of the cases resulted in death, 11 percent of cases required hospitalization, and 83 percent of the cases only required self-isolation.
