Greenfield Women Outnumber Men Nearly 2-1 In COVID-19 Cases

GREENFIELD, WI β The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Greenfield has gone down in two consecutive weeks as of Thursday, though women have seen nearly twice as many cases as men, health officials say.
According to the Greenfield Health Department, which reports city COVID-19 data each Thursday, there were four case reported between May 29 and June 4. That figure is down from the previous week's total of 12. Working backward, Greenfield has seen weeks of 25, 22 and 15 new cases each week dating back to May 1.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Greenfield is up to 161, with 12 deaths as of Thursday.

According to city health data, 36 percent of all confirmed cases involved underlying health conditions, though only 12 percent of all cases required hospitalization.

The overwhelming majority of COVID-19 cases in Greenfield were among women, city officials said, who made up 64 percent of all cases. A total of 36 percent of all cases were men.

When health officials studied age demographics, they found that more than half of the confirmed cases are younger than 60 years old. A total of 17 percent of confirmed cases were at least 80 years old, 27 percent were between the ages of 40-50 years, 27 percent were between the ages of 18-39 years and 5 percent were between the ages of 0-17 years.
