Highway 100 Repair Work In Greenfield Set To Begin

GREENFIELD, WI — Motorists in Greenfield will have some new construction to contend with as the Wisconsin Department of Transportation begins on Highway 100, including a stretch that goes through Greenfield.

State officials say a stretch of Highway 100 between I-43 and the Hank Aaron State Trail was last rehabilitated in 1999, and the pavement is in poor condition.

The proposed project will resurface the pavement, and implement upgrades to the signals to provide more efficient flow of traffic and improve safety at major intersections. In addition, curb ramp and bus stop improvements will make the corridor more accessible for all users.

Officials say the work will start later this month and will focus on the area near the Root River bridges, as well as the segment north of Greenfield Ave.

Improvements

• Remove existing asphalt layer, base patch underlying concrete pavement, and resurface with new asphalt.
• Replace traffic signals at Layton Avenue, Oklahoma Avenue, National Avenue, Cleveland Avenue and Lincoln Avenue.
• Reconstruct curb ramps at various locations to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards.
• Replace asphalt overlay on driveways that were previously overlaid.
• Bridge deck overlays over the Root River

Traffic Impacts

• During construction, various median openings, intersections, and driveways will need to be temporarily closed.
• There will be no changes to access or driveways when construction is complete.

• Highway 100 will maintain two lanes in each direction during a.m. and p.m. peak hours.
• Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction during evening hours.
• All work will occur in the existing highway right of way.
