Man Crashed Into West Allis Building After Greenfield Pursuit: Police
A sedan drove through the yard of a Greenfield apartment complex during a pursuit and later crashed into a West Allis building, police said.

GREENFIELD, WI — A car crashed into a building in West Allis early Sunday morning after being chased by Greenfield police for over three miles, according to an incident report.
After the sedan crashed on South 60th Street near Burnham the driver got out and tried running away but police tasered and took him into custody, according to the police report. Amid the ordeal, officers heard gas hissing from the damaged building before it could be turned off, police said.
The driver, a 29-year-old from West Allis, was taken into police custody and booked for fleeing an officer, operating while intoxicated, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting, according to the incident report. Online court records did not show charges formally filed as of Thursday.

It started when a Greenfield officer spotted a white sedan around 3:20 a.m. driving west on Morgan Avenue near 43rd Street, police said. The officer said the car did not fully stop at a flashing red light and when it turned its tires screeched. The officer followed and noted that the car had expired tags as it drove 20 mph above the limit, according to the report.
Eventually, the officer put on his lights and sirens and a pursuit began reaching 80-90 mph at times, according to the police report. At one point, the sedan met a dead end on West Lakefield Avenue near a senior living complex so it cut through the grass back onto the road, according to police.

As the pursuit continued on 60th Street and approached Beloit Road, police said the driver began to lose control until he veered off the road hitting a house and a business. The man crawled out of his car and tried to run away behind a parked car until an officer tased him, according to the police report.
Police said the driver had glossy and bloodshot eyes plus odors of an intoxicant on his breath after the crash. The car had extensive damage on its driver side, police said.
After We Energies shut off the gas and the scene was deemed safe police said they searched the crashed car. An officer found a loaded 9mm Taurus Millennium on the driver's side floorboard, according to an incident report.
