Man Threatens to Put Another 'In a Grave' Over Cribbage Game, Police Say

The 44-year-old Greenfield man was upset his mother had played cribbage with her friend instead of him, according to police.

A 44-year-old Greenfield man who police say threw a phone at his mother and threatened her friend when he got mad over a game of cribbage was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Tuesday with a pair of misdemeanors.

According to the Greenfield Police Department report, on March 3, the man, whose name is being withheld by Patch to protect the identity of his 66-year-old mother, was upset that his mom, whom he has lived with for at least two years in the 3900 block of West Honey Creek Circle, played cribbage with her male friend instead of with him.

The son became angry and verbally abusive toward his mom, she told police, and threw a cordless telephone overhand at his mother, hitting her in the breast.

When the man’s mother called her friend and told him what happened, her friend told her he’d be right over but decided to stop at the police station first and tell officers what was going on.

Meanwhile, officers responded to the woman’s home to speak with her son. With an officer there, the son called his mom’s friend, swore at him and said, “I’ll put you in a grave,” according to the police report. He was immediately placed under arrest but resisted when officers tried to put his hands behind his back.

The 44-year-old was charged on Tuesday with unlawful phone use – threatening harm and resisting an officer, a pair of misdemeanors. He is due back in court March 21.
