Police Blotter: Journey Tribute, Graffiti-Style

Maybe the following culprit was a Journey fan, or watched too much Glee over the last few years.

At approximately 10:45 p.m. Oct. 10, Greenfield police took a call regarding a stop sign that had been vandalized in the 4700 block of West Layton Avenue.

The word “don’t” was written above “stop.” “Believing,” of course, was written below.

The Department of Public Works was notified of the graffiti.

It is not known if DPW workers recovered the sign With Open Arms or told police they’d fix it Any Way You Want It.

That and the following reports were included in the Greenfield Police Department’s log for the week of Oct. 8-14:

• An employee at AT&T, 4739 S. 76th St., reported a man took a 16-gig iPhone 5 without paying for it and fled at approximately 7:30 p.m. Oct. 8.
• A 22-year-old man was taken into custody for operating while intoxicated in the 4000 block of South 97th Street at 3:30 a.m. Oct. 9. If convicted, it would be his second offense.
• A man in the 5800 block of South 43rd Street reported an aluminum plank used for scaffolding as well as 33 feet of aluminum gutter scrap were taken from his yard sometime before 11 am. Oct. 9.
• A man reported his laptop and cell phone were taken from his vehicle while it was parked at the Dollar Tree, 6261 S. 27th St., sometime before 5:25 p.m. Oct. 9.
• A 20-year-old man was arrested for possession of marijuana after a traffic stop at the intersection of South 48th Street and West Forest Home Avenue at 10:15 p.m. Oct. 9.
• A 50-year-old man was arrested for forgery and his 52-year-old female companion was cited for obstructing and receiving stolen property after the pair used what police say was a counterfeit $20 bill to pay for their food at Sonic, 4763 S. 27th St., at 5:30 p.m. Oc. 11.
