Police Blotter: One Man's Rap is Another's Profanity

Being aware of your surroundings is sound advise for just about everyone, especially these next two men.

On Nov. 28, a caller told police a young man was being very loud and using profanities in front of Ace Cash Express, 6225 S. 27th St.

When police found the man inside George Webb’s with his grandparents, it was suggested to him if he was going to rap in public, he should do so without the swearing.

Meanwhile, a resident on the west side of town told police she saw her neighbor watching a pornographic movie while masturbating in his recliner in the evening hours of Nov. 29.

And while that's not a crime, the caller was concerned because the man was reportedly doing the deed with his blinds open.

Police left a business card at the man’s door.

Those events and the following incidents were included in the Greenfield Police Department’s log for the week of Nov. 24 through Dec. 2:

• Video surveillance showed an iPad was taken off an employee’s desk at Russ Darrow Mazda, 3520 S. 108th St. on Nov. 24.
• A 28-year-old woman was cited for forging a prescription she had filled at Walgreens, 4688 S. 108th St. around noon Nov. 26.
• A vehicle at the Armed Forces recruiting center, 6196 W. Layton Ave. had one of its windows smashed out sometime before 1:20 p.m. Nov. 26.
• A 39-year-old was arrested for second offensive operating while intoxicated after he was stopped in the 4400 block of South 76th Street at 2 a.m. Nov. 27.
• A 23-year-old man was arrested for writing and attempting to cash a forged check at Guaranty Bank, 4661 S. 27th St., at 10:15 a.m. Nov. 27.
• An employee at Walmart, 10600 W. Layton Ave., told police suspects stole a television from the store at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 28.
• Three people, ranging in ages between 17 and 19, were cited for possession of marijuana after an officer pulled them over for a traffic violation near the intersection of South 60th Street and South Honey Creek Drive at 4 p.m. Nov. 29.
• An employee at Walmart, 10600 W. Layton Ave., told police the windows of her Monte Carlo was smashed and said a witness told her the suspect did the damage with a baseball bat sometime before 5:40 p.m. Nov. 29.
• An employee at Kmart, 4601 S. 27th St., reported a man pushed a cart with merchandise out of the store and loaded the items into his dark blue Chevy Venture van at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 30.
• An employee at Ken’s Shell, 5909 S. 27th St., said two men purchased $2,500 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets from a machine in the store but were able to get the money used for the purchase back each time.
• A 57-year-old man was arrested for fourth-offense operating while intoxicated after he was stopped at the intersection of South 47th Street and West Layton Avenue at 3:30 a.m. Dec. 1.
• A resident in the 10100 block of West Cold Spring Road, who two weeks earlier reported his apartment had been entered, reported two shotguns were missing Dec. 2.
