Police Blotter: Thieves Work as a Team

Suspected thieves used a common approach to obtain some hot items in Greenfield last week.

An employee at Game Stop, 7420 W. Holmes Ave., reported at approximately 2:30 p.m. Dec. 11, a female entered the store and distracted an employee by asking questions while two males each grabbed an Xbox game system and fled.

The next night, at approximately 6:30 p.m., employees at AT&T, 5075 S. 76th St., reported a man in his mid-20s managed to break the security cord and stole two Samsung cell phones while another man in his late teens tried to distract the employee at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 12.

Those and the following incidents were included in the Greenfield Police Department's incident log for the week of Dec. 10-16:

• A 40-year-old man, with a warrant with another jurisdiction, was taken into custody and taken to county jail for obstructing police when he gave an alias during a traffic stop in the 6200 block of South 27th Street at 1:20 a.m. Dec. 10.
• An employee at Pick ‘n Save, 4279 S. 76th St., was cited for internal theft at 9 a.m. Dec. 10.
• A 17-year-old man was arrested for retail theft and possession of Schedule II narcotics and a 22-year-old man was arrested for retail theft after they were observed concealing cell phones at Target, 4601 S. 27th St., at 4 p.m. Dec. 10.
• A woman reported the passenger side window of her car was smashed out while it was parked in the Glenwood Elementary School parking lot at 4:45 p.m. Dec. 10.
• Milwaukee and Greenfield police responded to a five-car accident at the intersection of South 27th Street and Howard Avenue at 8:20 a.m., less than an hour after two accidents were reported at the intersection of Howard and South 43rd Street, one of which involved a county plow truck and another vehicle.
• A resident in the 11600 block of West Sunset Lane reported about $6,000 worth of gold was taken from his residence and sold to Robert Haack Diamonds sometime before Dec. 11.
• A 17-year-old girl was arrested for domestic violence after her mother told police she struck her in the 2900 block of West Ramsey Avenue at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 11.
• An 18-year-old woman was arrested for retail theft after an employee at Kmart, 4601 S. 27th St., told police she concealed a watch and reading glasses in her pocket and sleeve of her jacket at 8 p.m. Dec. 14.
• The manager at McDonald’s, 4275 S. 27th St., told police that for the third time in a week, he found needles he believed were for illegal drug use in the garbage bag of the men’s bathroom at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 16.
