Police Dispose Of Grenade + Turtle Saved From Roadway: Greenfield PD

GREENFIELD, WI — Someone came into the Greenfield Police Department station on June 14 to dispose of a grenade he found when he was cleaning out his late family member's house, according to the agency's most recent logs.

The Milwaukee Police Department bomb unit found the grenade was not live, logs said. The bomb unit disposed of the grenade, according to logs.

  • A runner found a turtle in the road near 104th Street and Coldspring Road on June 17 and told police they were unable to move it. An officer responded and successfully moved the turtle, according to police logs.
  • A caller told police over the phone on Sunday that he saw an "aggressive coyote" in a parking lot in the 5000 block of Greenbrook Terrace walk past his car, describing it to police as an unknown "massive dog like animal that he has never seen before in Wisconsin," logs said. Police coached the caller out of the car and inside via phone and he made it inside, the Greenfield Police Department daybook reads.

Theft Reports

  • A caller told police on June 13 his car had the back window smashed on it and work equipment was taken in the 3700 block of 34th Street, logs said.
  • A resident told police her 2020 Kia Forte was stolen after 5 p.m. on June 14 in the 3500 block of Rivershire Drive, logs said.
  • A resident told police his vehicle was broken into and his backpack was stolen from inside when it was parked in the 5900 block of Coldspring Road, logs said. A neighbor who witnessed the apparent theft provided a photo to police, logs said.
  • A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a car that was parked behind a church in the 4100 block of 112th Street on Sunday, logs said.
  • A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 4200 block of 35th Street on Sunday. The caller told police the theft likely happened in the days before the report, according to logs.
