Power Outages Affect Over 3,500 In Greenfield Area

A power outage reported near Grange Avenue and 27th Street just before 8 a.m. Monday affected over 3,500 We Energies customers.

UPDATE: The We Energies outage map now plots fewer than 250 customers out of service. Some small outages remain in the Greenfield area, but the largest appears resolved.


GREENFIELD, WI — A power outage reported just before 8 a.m. Monday near Grange Avenue and 27th Street is affecting over 3,500 We Energies customers in the surrounding Greenfield area, according to the utility company's online tracker.

The cause of the outage has not yet been determined, but crews are on the way, the tracker said.

We Energies estimates that the outage will be resolved by 10 a.m., the tracker shows.

Another smaller outage was also reported near Layton and Forest Home Avenues around 8:20 a.m. on Monday, the We Energies tracker showed. Crews are on the way for the outage affecting 62 customers and a cause is not yet determined, but a fix could be expected by 10:30 a.m. the tracker said.

The outages come as rain hits the Milwaukee area.

Showers are expected to remain through the morning, with a chance of thunderstorms to continue through Monday afternoon, according to the forecast from the National Weather Service.

A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms remains mostly before 11 p.m., NWS forecasted.

We Energies says to call 800-662-4797 to report an outage or downed wire. The company said you should not assume they know about an outage.
