Sectional Efforts Best in Years for Greenfield Runners
Greenfield High School's boys and girls cross country teams ended their seasons Saturday at the Marquette Sectional.

The Greenfield boys and girls cross country teams finished their season at the WIAA Marquette Sectional at Washington Park on Saturday, but not without a few more highlights to take with them into the offseason.
The boys team finished sixth, which is the highest team finish for a boys team in more than 15 years, according to coach Ernie Rosenthal.
Tom Friedbacher led in 17 minutes, 53 seconds, good for 19th place. Wauwatosa West's Patrick Campbell won in 15:59.

The Greenfield girls also turned in their best finish in "many years", according to Rosenthal, whose Hawks placed seventh with freshman Megan Theune-Baillargeon's 29th-place time of 17:14 leading the way.
"Overall the season was very positive, setting records on the girls side with Keely Hanleyβs 15:33 (4-kilometer run), and having three boys make the Woodland Conference all-conference team," Rosenthal said. "With most of the team coming back next year β we lose two varsity runners: Cody Hagfors and Andrea Organ β we look for 2013 to be very positive year."
