State data provides insight into trends at district's serving Greenfield's students.
With school over for the year, Patch was curious… Exactly what do Greenfield and Whitnall graduates do after graduation? The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has an incredible amount of searchable data on its website.
So we took a look, and here’s what we found:
The number of Greenfield graduates has remained relatively stable since 1997. There were 213 graduates that year, and 266 in 2010, the most recent year for which data was available.

Enrollment in vocational and technical colleges was the highest in 2010 since 1997. In 1997, 32 percent of graduates went to vocational or technical colleges; in 2010 25 percent made that choice. In 10 of the intervening years, less than 20 percent of graduates chose vocational or technical schools.
Whitnall’s graduating classes have also not changed significantly, going from 190 in 1997 to 229 in 2010. The percent of graduates heading to four-year colleges remained high, with nearly two-thirds of graduates going to a four-year college in 2010. In none of the last 14 years did Whitnall send fewer than 58 percent of its graduates on to college.

One notable trend for Whitnall graduates, is very few of them reported going directly into the work force. 6 percent reported that was their plan after graduation in 2005. That dropped to 5 percent in 2006, 2 percent in 2007, and down to zero in 2008. Less than 1 percent reported entering the work force in 2009, and the number was back to zero in 2010.
