Update: Winter Storm Watch Canceled As Storm Tracks South

The National Weather Service originally predicted 6 to 11 inches of snow. That forecast has now changed.

MILWAUKEE, WI — After a weekend of spring-like weather, a potentially dangerous winter storm will visit southeastern Wisconsin this week, the National Weather Service says. Snow accumulations are expected to range between six to 11 inches, making travel very difficult.

According to weather observers, the winter storm watch has been issued for Tuesday morning through Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service says there is a good chance that most of southeastern Wisconsin will see at least eight inches of snow. Milwaukee has an 83 percent chance of that happening, weather observers say. Waukesha is right behind with a 78 percent chance. Racine has a 66 percent chance of seeing at least eight inches of snow. The percentages drop the further north and west you go toward Madison and Wisconsin Dells, according to the National Weather Service.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a slight chance of rain and snow after 5 p.m. on Monday.

The NWS says snow is likely before 11 a.m. Tuesday, with a mixture of rain and snow appearing between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., then snow after 2 p.m. Tuesday's snow could be heavy at times. Accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Weather observers say 3 to 5 more inches of snow is possible Tuesday night, and is expected to be of the heavy variety.

The snow is expected to taper off by the time Wednesday comes, with less than an inch possible.
